"Creative Expression produces Magical Art!"
Artist & Teacher:
Jill Alexander is a prominent, award winning artist who works primarily in vivid acrylics and mixed media. Though her work is diverse in subject matter, her style and technique remain consistent, with vibrant colors and a curvaceous signature of the Art Deco influence. "This characteristic swirl", says Jill, "pervasive in my paintings, my logo, my jewelry, even in my home decor, is representative of the spiritual evolution that led me to this career". Raising two hockey playing sons, Matt and Taylor, has been the inspiration for the distinctly Canadian flavor that colors her very detailed hockey and figure skating scenes. Many of Ottawa's remarkable landmarks which include the Rideau Canal, the Peace Tower, the National Art Gallery, and the Chateau Laurier have all been immortalized in Jill's more fanciful designs. However vibrant abstracts and oversized flowers are the hallmark of her work.
Jill is one of the founding members of the Arnprior & Beyond Discovery Arts Tour. An annual tour of approximately 10 Art Studios featuring 20-30 artist's and their exquisite and diverse work. The studios are located in and around the Arnprior area and along the Ottawa river extending to Jill's studio in Castleford.
A great passion of Jill's is to inspire others to unleash their artistic passion in private and group classes. Recently settled into her new studio on the banks of the Ottawa River in Castleford, Ontario, Jill is an acrylic and mixed media painting instructor and workshop leader. In 2013, Algonquin College Pembroke Campus, welcomed Jill with open and enthusiastic arms as a Continuing Education/Personal Development Art Instructor. In addition to her teaching schedule Jill is now offering classes at Wallacks in Ottawa.
